  • DESCRIPTION

    The Aurora 476-1493-646 mechanical seal is a direct-fit 16mm cartridge seal for Aurora PVM 10, PVM 15 and PVM 20 vertical multistage pumps, including jockey pump duty. It drops in without dismantling the pump. Silicon carbide faces on both sides with Viton (FKM) elastomers. Cross-references to Pentair seal 2200031285 and Berkeley B86598. Built to OEM-equivalent standards or higher.

    Viton or EPDM — which one does your system need?

    This seal is built both ways, with silicon carbide faces either way. The elastomer is the only difference and it is not a straight upgrade in one direction. Viton (FKM), the build we supply, is the better choice for oils, fuels, solvents and most chemical service. EPDM is the better choice for hot water and for glycol or antifreeze systems, where Viton is the weaker material. If your pump runs hot water or glycol, call us before ordering and we will tell you what we can source.
