Berkeley BVM 10/15/20 Mechanical Seal — 16mm Cartridge Seal (B86598 / B86599)

The Berkeley B86598 mechanical seal is a direct-fit 16mm cartridge seal for Berkeley BVM 10, BVM 15 and BVM 20 vertical multistage pumps. It drops in without dismantling the pump. This is the Viton build, matching Berkeley B86599, with silicon carbide faces on both sides. Cross-references to Aurora 476-1493-646. Built to OEM-equivalent standards or higher.

Viton or EPDM — which one does your system need?

Berkeley builds this seal both ways, and the faces are silicon carbide in either case. The elastomer is the only difference, and it is not a straight upgrade in one direction. Viton (FKM), the build we supply, is the better choice for oils, fuels, solvents and most chemical service. EPDM is the better choice for hot water above roughly 200 F and for glycol or antifreeze systems, where Viton is the weaker material.
