    Goulds Mechanical Seal 10K169 / 10K173 — 16mm

    Direct-fit 16mm mechanical seal replacement for Goulds vertical multistage pumps, built for reliable sealing in high-duty service with Silicon Carbide / Silicon Carbide (SiC/SiC) faces and Viton (FKM) elastomers.

    Please Note: 10K169 and 10K173 share the same design and fit. Because we supply the upgraded SiC/SiC/Viton build as standard, our 10K169 meets the 10K173 material specification—the two references are interchangeable in our catalog.

    How to Confirm Your Seal Size — 12mm or 16mm 

    Goulds/G&L SV-series pumps take either a 12mm or a 16mm seal depending on the series, and the catalog number alone won’t tell you — it can start with “3SV” either way. The series name at the top of the nameplate is the tiebreaker. If it reads SSV, your pump takes this 16mm seal; if it reads SV, it takes the smaller 12mm seal. Use the guide below to check.

    12mm or 16mm? How to Read Your Nameplate
    SV-series pumps take either a 12mm or a 16mm seal. The catalog number can start with “3SV” on both — so the series name at the top of the nameplate is what tells you the size.

    The catch: a catalog number starting with “3SV” does not tell you the size by itself — both series use it. Always check whether the series reads SV or SSV.
