  • DESCRIPTION

    The Hydromatic HPGX200FD lower mechanical seal is a 3/4 in. single spring seal for Hydromatic grinder pumps, replacing rotary 049170001 and seat 049180001. Type B head (John Crane Type 6A equivalent, also written T-6A) with a shaft-mounted ceramic seat. Built to OEM-equivalent standards or higher.

    Viton throughout. The original build mixes elastomers — Buna on the rotary, Viton on the seat. Seal House supplies this seal with Viton on both halves, so the whole seal carries the same 400°F chemical and temperature rating instead of being held back to the Buna limit on the rotating half. Same dimensions, same fit, drop-in replacement for the OEM pair.

    This is the lower seal. On a grinder pump the lower seal is the one running in the sewage, below the oil chamber. If you are rebuilding the pump you will usually want the upper seal and the O-ring set at the same time — see the kit link at the foot of this page.
